Timing is not everything.

Timing is everything.

Sorry wrong again. The amount of times I have heard this one and let me preface this, usually after something doesn’t work out, but let me the first to tell you that is BS.

I will admit that timing is important and it is critical but it is not everything. Timing should be looked at as one cog in the wheel of success regardless of it being self success, work, relationship or otherwise.

There will never be the right timing for most things. Having your first child, switching careers, getting a dog. Everything we do is based on preparedness.

Look at it this way. If you are at the right place at the right time was that timing or luck? Or the result of several conscious decisions that led you there.

Conversely if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time does that mean you have bad timing? Or perhaps you need to be there to learn something valuable.

I can’t count the amount of times I chalked up failure to bad timing but really in reflection it was that I didn’t make the timing right. I either went too fast or too slow. We have the ability to pick our moments and that is what I call controlled timing.

You can create the right moment when you prepare, work, execute and deliver and that is in all aspects of life. Sometimes you need to slow down and or speed up but no matter what you are in charge of where and when you are somewhere. So control your timing to create your perfect timing.

I have always loved the saying you make your own luck...well you also control your own time.
